The Netherlands is a country well-known in trade in Western Europe. It is the sector that drives the local economy to a large extent. It can also boast well-developed entrepreneurship, startups and global companies that are conquering international markets. Keep reading to find out what you should know about this region.

There are around 17 million people in the Netherlands. Not a big country, but with huge potential businesswise. In fact, The Netherlands is listed as the seventeenth-largest economy in the world and the fifth in the eurozone countries. Its GDP in 2017 amounted to USD 955 billion. Over 60% comes from foreign trade in goods and services.

If we look at these statistics, the Dutch market seems to be really impressive. This is confirmed by the developed ecosystem of startups and global companies. It is very popular to say that Dutch companies do the best business abroad. They have the experience, reputation, and knowledge. They are also seen as credible partners.

It is worth taking a closer look at the companies that were founded in the Netherlands and that are currently dynamically developing and winning new markets. We have prepared a list of the 10 most interesting companies (in our opinion). Here they are:

DiningCity

location: Amsterdam

It is one of the most popular platforms for finding restaurants and making reservations. DiningCity started its activity, scaling the market in the Netherlands in 1998. However, from the beginning, they quickly started international expansion to, among others, China, Singapore, Belgium, and Italy. The platform contains user-friendly functionalities such as the ability to evaluate restaurants, issue reviews, and match suggestions.

Promodomo

This is a startup operating in the real estate industry, which was established in 2017. It provides users with a platform to sell and find properties in the Netherlands. As the founders emphasize, their transparency, simplicity, and personalization distinguish them from the competition. This startup is currently in a development stage, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.

Webinargeek

location: Zoetermeer

The company, founded in 2014, provides users with software for webinars along with extensive marketing and statistics tools. It’s a really smart and creative solution used by companies and privates. Organizing online meetings has never been so easy.

The company has created a platform that enables you to successfully build, launch, and grow a healthy business. It helps reach customers, interact with them, and increase sales conversions. Companies such as Philips, ING, and Stiho have already benefited from their services.

Salonized was created for entrepreneurs who spend too much of their time dealing with bureaucracy and other organizational issues of the company. With the help of this tool, you can arrange meetings, manage daily administration tasks, and keep an up-to-date customer database.

Fieber

located: Amstelveen

Fieber is the first internet and cloud provider for small and medium enterprises in the Netherlands. It supports companies providing internet for business, online backups, Office 365, and VoIP hosting. Fieber has already achieved its first big success. It was listed on the “Deloitte Technology Fast 50” list.

Startup modeled on Airbnb. The founders have created a platform that allows you to rent motorhomes and campervans. The GoBonny offer already has over 1700 caravans available.

They show that caravans’ owners actually use them for only one month a year. By renting them to other people, they can earn some additional money and let others enjoy the adventure and the freedom of the open road.

Tiqets

location: Amsterdam

It is an innovative platform for selling tickets to museums, shows, and other tourist attractions, that has revolutionized the market. To use Tiqets, simply install the mobile application and enjoy the ease of booking tickets. The founders started the company with the idea to cut the need to print tickets once and for all. They wanted to provide users with the opportunity to easily plan the visit of a city in total freedom from their phone, and just enjoy the culture.  The company was founded in 2013 and operates in Europe, the USA, and the Middle East.

Plugify

location: Amsterdam

Startup founded in 2015. He created a platform connecting customers with music bands and singers. If you want to book live music during your event, just use Plugify. You can search for an interesting band or singer, make a reservation and then pay – also using this service. Plugify already gathers over 2,000 artists.

Adcombi

location: Amsterdam

Adcombi is the leading programmatic solution for local advertising. This solution enables multi-store brands to advertise online with locally tailored campaigns for each store. Adcombi is dedicated to all brands that want to increase sales and traffic in their stores.

Conclusions

In Europe, you will find many markets worth attention and without any doubt, the Netherlands is one of them. As you have surely noticed, the state development indicators are at a good level and the best showcase for the Dutch market are companies that are dynamically developing – both on the domestic and global markets.
