Mobility Market: Potential, Evolution, and Startups

The Codest

Kamil Ferens

Head of Growth

The annual mobility market growth rate is 4.5%. Experts predict that by 2030 the value of the market may almost double. People around the world are looking for alternative methods of transport and the changing mobility market may hold the answer to this challenge.

Growth of the mobility market

The mobility industry is undergoing a revolution right before our eyes. The impact of modern technology stimulates its growth and helps create new inspiring solutions for its users. We can talk about advanced technological solutions, artificial intelligence or electrification of transport. You’ve probably heard more than once about a flying taxi in Dubai or unmanned taxis in the United States. The mobility market is transforming and it cannot be stopped.

In 2017, the market value was around $ 14.9 trillion, covering the production of vehicles, movement of people and goods, road infrastructure, airports and ports, as well as all services and people who keep them operating. According to expert research, if the projected growth rate is maintained, the value in 2030 will reach $ 26.6 trillion! Impressive.

Users of the mobility market are looking for more than innovative and convenient solutions. They often pay attention to ecological aspects, attractive prices as well as safety. These are the key factors that determine the growth and potential of products. Why is that? Users are becoming more and more demanding. They are looking for solutions that allow them to comfortably order a vehicle or cancel a reservation. What counts is time and comfort. Moreover, let’s look at the prices of such solutions. The use of publicly available means of urban transport, such as e-scooters, is becoming the most popular way of moving around cities in the world’s largest countries. They allow the users to avoid problems such as limited access to parking lots, traffic jams or high fuel prices.

I can observe the development of mobility and e-mobility up close. Poland, being one of the European countries, is a good example as e-mobility is developing particularly well in this country. According to the latest research by the Warsaw Insurance Guarantee Fund (IGF), almost 10% of Poles use electric scooters. As of October 2019, there are over 11,000 e-scooters in 19 cities in Poland.

Most promising mobility companies

I think you might be interested in the profiles of three thriving companies in the European mobility market. Based on deep research, I chose Mobimeo, VOI Technology and Wunder Mobility by taking into account the development potential as well as the attractiveness of offered products. Read more about these companies below.
