IS THE EXCEL DATABASE AN OLD-SCHOOL? YES OR NO

Jakub

Microsoft Excel is one of the most-used computer programs around the world. It has many functions that organize and speed up work. Databases management is one of them. And although there are many other software that is used to work with data, Excel still remains quite popular.

Database management in Excel is not an old-school. It is pretty much intuitive and above all, an effective tool that automates and speeds up working process. Excel is used all over the world by people working in various positions. Undoubtedly, it can be called a very flexible software that is be used in a variety of ways. Despite the fact that there are many other tools dedicated to strictly managing databases, Excel still has its supporters. In many companies, knowledge of this program is even a requirement.

Excel works well for a database storing and managing, as well as for making analyzes and reports. In individual matrices, you can quickly find required information and, for example, combine it with other data. You do not really need to obtain any specialized knowledge to efficiently manage this tool. This is a big advantage, as it takes just a few hours of training and an employee can start working with the database without any problems.Obviously, Excel also has its weaknesses. If your work requires the necessity of complicated data search schemes, then Excel will not be as effective anymore. It is difficult to compare it to even MySql software, which is used for advanced management of relational databases.Working in Excel will be also difficult with a large number of matrix calculations. Such process can be time-consuming and ineffective.

CONCLUSION

Deciding on the choice of software, you should not forget about Microsoft Excel, as in many cases this will be an effective and sufficient tool for you. There is no way to say that Excel is an old-school thing. Remember, however, that if your databases require any advanced activities, then choosing other software is worth considering.
