Het is een proces waarbij de vlakken van een 3D-object die niet zichtbaar zijn voor de kijker, worden verwijderd. De techniek is gebaseerd op het principe dat een gezicht alleen zichtbaar is als zijn normaalvector naar de kijker wijst.<\/p>\n<p>Wanneer een 3D-object wordt gerenderd, wordt elk gezicht van het object gecontroleerd om te zien of het naar de kijker is gericht of van de kijker weg is gericht. Als een gezicht van de kijker af wijst, wordt het genegeerd en gaat de render-engine verder met het volgende gezicht. Dit proces wordt back face culling genoemd.<\/p>\n<p>Back face culling is een belangrijke techniek die gebruikt wordt in 3D graphics omdat het de prestaties van het renderproces aanzienlijk kan verbeteren. Door de niet zichtbare vlakken te verwijderen, kan de rendering engine zich richten op het renderen van alleen de zichtbare vlakken, waardoor er minder berekeningen nodig zijn om een sc\u00e8ne te renderen. Dit vermindert op zijn beurt de tijd die nodig is om een sc\u00e8ne te renderen, waardoor het renderproces effici\u00ebnter wordt.<\/p>\n<p>Back face culling wordt gebruikt in veel 3D grafische toepassingen, waaronder videogames, virtual reality en computerondersteund ontwerp (<a href=\"https:\/\/thecodest.co\/nl\/dictionary\/computer-aided-design-cad\/\">CAD<\/a>) software. Het is vooral nuttig in toepassingen die real-time rendering vereisen, zoals videogames, waar de prestaties van de rendering engine cruciaal zijn voor de gebruikerservaring.<\/p>\n<p>Concluderend is back face culling een krachtige techniek die wordt gebruikt in 3D-graphics om de renderprestaties van objecten te verbeteren.
