Nel corso degli anni molte persone mi hanno chiesto perch\u00e9 mi preoccupo di programmazione in PHP<\/a><\/strong>e per molti anni ho sentito come un mantra due argomentazioni ricorrenti per cui dovrei smettere e iniziare a scrivere software commerciale in linguaggi come Java<\/a> o C#.

Oggi citer\u00f2 queste argomentazioni e cercher\u00f2 di cambiare il vostro atteggiamento nei confronti di PHP<\/strong> almeno un po'. S\u00ec, il titolo di questo articolo \u00e8 un assurdo clickbait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#1 PHP sta morendo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PHP<\/strong> sta morendo anno dopo anno. L'ex pi\u00f9 popolare web<\/a> La lingua sta perdendo popolarit\u00e0 di mese in mese, soprattutto a causa della JavaScript<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Se si guarda ai numeri, la verit\u00e0 \u00e8 sconfortante! Nell'ultimo anno, PHP<\/strong> ha perso uno sconcertante 1,6% della sua quota come linguaggio di backend del Web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma ok, a parte gli scherzi - anche se i numeri sono reali come riportato da W3CTechs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La prima menzione che PHP<\/strong> sta morendo pu\u00f2 essere trovato sul web dal 2013. All'epoca Software Gunslinger ha pubblicato un articolo<\/a> (che tra l'altro raccomando caldamente!) che dice che PHP morir\u00e0 perch\u00e9 non supporta processi di lunga durata e perch\u00e9 manca di asincronicit\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E questo \u00e8 un dato di fatto, PHP<\/strong> non \u00e8 stato creato per questo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma torniamo ai numeri: diamo un'occhiata ai dati dello scorso anno. dati<\/a> su PHP<\/strong> versioni utilizzate nei pacchetti Packagist. I dati pi\u00f9 recenti sono disponibili sul sito della fonte packagist.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come si pu\u00f2 vedere PHP<\/strong> cos\u00ec come altre lingue popolari come Rubino<\/a>, C\/C++, Python<\/a> hanno subito un notevole calo di popolarit\u00e0 su Github negli ultimi anni, ma c'\u00e8 una tendenza al rialzo e ci aspettiamo che tornino ad occupare posizioni di rilievo dopo un periodo laterale pi\u00f9 lungo. (questa non \u00e8 una consulenza sugli investimenti)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al momento della stesura di questo articolo, posso scegliere tra 171 offerte di lavoro su uno dei principali portali di lavoro in Italia. Polonia<\/a>di cui ben 50 per i giovani. PHP<\/strong> sta morendo, giusto?

\"Meme<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

E a proposito di soldi... lo sapevate che PHP<\/strong> e la sua fonte codice<\/a> \u00e8 stato mantenuto dal novembre 2021 dal indipendente Open Source<\/em> comunit\u00e0La Fondazione PHP<\/a> che paga una cifra consistente<\/strong> agli sviluppatori OpenSource per i contributi a php-src<\/code>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A differenza di altri linguaggi e framework, che spesso sono di propriet\u00e0 di grandi aziende, il nucleo dello sviluppo squadra<\/a> \u00e8 pagata direttamente dal conto della fondazione, che \u00e8 gestita dai contributi di aziende private come JetBrains e Symfony Corp ma anche dapiccoli contributi da parte di singoli sviluppatori<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#2 PHP \u00e8 terribile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

S\u00ec, questo argomento proviene sempre dalla bocca di sviluppatori che hanno acquisito familiarit\u00e0 con linguaggi fortemente tipizzati e comparabili.

Osservando il grafico dei dati raccolti durante ilSondaggio su StackOverflow<\/a> del 2021, si pu\u00f2 notare che ben 10.834 intervistati, pari a quasi 60% del totale, hanno trovato PHP \"terribile\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come una vecchia scuola Programmatore PHP<\/strong>capisco il perch\u00e9 di questa situazione. Mi viene subito in mente un classico esempio di problemi di memoria in PHP<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per chi non lo sapesse, il codice sopra riportato causa un errore di memoria. E c'\u00e8 di pi\u00f9. A partire dalla denominazione idiota dei metodi e dalla completa mancanza di logica nell'ordine dei loro parametri (s\u00ec, tutti noi amiamo str_<\/code> e array_<\/code>) al pi\u00f9 famoso bug dell'PHP T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM<\/code> - L'PHP \u00e8 pieno di stranezze e vizi delle vecchie versioni. Questo non significa che ci\u00f2 che abbiamo sentito dire su PHP<\/strong> qualche anno fa \u00e8 ancora vero. Il linguaggio ha subito un'enorme metamorfosi e oggi sono felice di guardare le mie definizioni di oggetti:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inoltre, il Ecosistema PHP<\/strong> \u00e8 cresciuta enormemente e oggi abbiamo incredibili opportunit\u00e0 di creare codice di qualit\u00e0, altamente tipizzato e ben testato. Possiamo usare Symfony<\/strong> \u200bper sviluppare applicazioni DDD<\/a> senza grossi problemi e possiamo aggirare il problema della sincronia di PHP usando Message Bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
E sebbene io stesso non pensi che PHP<\/strong> \u00e8 adatto per la creazione di processi backend a lunga durata e ha enormi problemi di prestazioni quando si tratta di sincronizzazione dello stato, ho ancheha creato un gioco per console PHP<\/a> utilizzando Symfony + Docker<\/a> con le mie mani come esempio che l'PHP pu\u00f2 ancora avere usi non convenzionali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un altro vantaggio di PHP<\/strong> \u00e8 la sua bassa barriera d'ingresso per i nuovi sviluppatori. Le documentazioni di due popolari framework Symfony eLaravel<\/a> e PHP<\/strong> La documentazione stessa \u00e8 sufficiente per entrare nel mondo del backend con il loro aiuto. Un mondo che non \u00e8 perfetto in PHP ma che permette molto. Utilizzando librerie aggiuntive come Laravel<\/a> Nova \u00e8 in grado di creare quasi tutti i componenti del nostro sistema con due soli comandi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, ma ha un problema di immagine e ha bisogno di molto lavoro per migliorarla. Noi, i programmatori, dobbiamo fare questo lavoro insegnando alle nuove generazioni e trasmettendo le migliori pratiche sotto forma di articoli, librerie e suggerimenti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Come lingua che \u00e8 stata sul mercato<\/a> da vent'anni, che \u00e8 gi\u00e0 sopravvissuto a pi\u00f9 di una hype<\/code> (ricordate Objective-C?) Penso che ce la far\u00e0 e trover\u00e0 la sua nicchia.
