Before starting your career at a certain place, your mind might get light-headed from second-guessing things. This is why I\u2019ve decided to write this article and give you a sneak-peek to the backstage. Let\u2019s go through my day as a JavaScript<\/a> Developer<\/a><\/b> here at The Codest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Morning<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s Friday, 7:52 a.m. I’ve just grabbed a cup of my favorite coffee and I\u2019m about to log into Slack to say hi on our notifications channel. Depending on the day, I would start between 7 and 9 as we do have flexible working hours. Now, this is the moment where the magic starts \u2013 I open the front\/backend applications and the database. Then I like to check my Slack again to see if there are some aspects to consider \u2013 new problems that occurred while I was
\nnot at work, bugs to play with, code<\/a> reviews<\/b> from other developers that I need to check. <\/p>\n

I also like to go through my mailbox and calendar to see if there are some new meetings planned for the day. As all of this is cleared out, I move onto Trello to see what I have to get done today and plan the rest of my day.<\/p>\n

Noon<\/h2>\n

As I\u2019m done with all the tasks mentioned above, it\u2019s time to dive into my code! To keep up the good workflow, I sometimes have a call with other developers who participate in the same project<\/a> to see what\u2019s new, exchange some views and, if necessary, brainstorm together to come up with the best solutions to any pitfalls that occur. <\/p>\n

To stay on the right track, I check Trello and the comments to see if there were any changes so I can be up-to-date with everything. As I\u2019m done with the most pressing matters, it\u2019s lunch time! I let my The Codest colleagues know that I\u2019m off for some time and type \u2018AFK\u2019 into our notification channel on Slack. <\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, every Friday we organize virtual coffee meetings for all employees. I do enjoy hopping on there from time to time and having a quick nice chat with people from all the departments. <\/p>\n

Afternoon<\/h2>\n

Depending on the projects, I also have some periodical meetings. In the currently ongoing one, I have a call with Wojtek (our Head of Product<\/a> Design) every two weeks to talk about the present venture and make sure everything is going on smoothly. We also discuss all the problems that occurred in the last few days, brainstorm some solutions to fix them and cooperate together on anything of importance.<\/p>\n

Besides code creation, I also have an opportunity to diversify my tasks and participate in other compelling ventures, such as recruitment support, internal dev meeting management and project quote creation. Depending on the situation, I would take part in some of the job interviews to meet the candidates and support our recruitment department with some practical expertise. I also focus on organizing our internal dev meetings, where all the developers from The Codest meet and share their knowledge with each other by preparing some handy how-to presentations and engaging online events. I mainly take care of collecting the feedback from the participants, announcing the meetings and searching for speakers from our company for the internal events in the near future.<\/p>\n

As the working day is coming to an end, I simply say bye to The Codest team<\/a> and on the log and set my status to inactive.<\/p>\n

Wrapping Up<\/h2>\n

So, this is how my day went! They all can differ from each other, honestly. What\u2019s cool about working remotely is that you can work from the comfort of your own home and still participate in many social activities with co-workers enjoying their own locations \u2013 and you can basically work from wherever you want to! <\/p>\n
