Jekyll is a simple, blog-aware, static site generator perfect for personal, project-based or organization sites. Jekyll takes your content, renders Markdown and Liquid templates, and spits out a complete, static website. Jekyll is the engine behind GitHub Pages.<\/p>\n

At first glance, most of the code<\/a> you’re working on there is not Ruby<\/a>, it is still the language that stands behind Jekyll, and the plugins use Ruby to implement any functionality needed.<\/p>\n

E-commerce<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Although you can build e-commerce<\/a> in many programming languages, Ruby may be a good option. There are only a few platforms that provide tools to create it faster. One of the most popular e-commerce platforms \u2013 Shopify \u2013 is written in Ruby. There are more growing open-source platforms, namely Spree and Solidus. As you can see, we are not limited to one solution and we can choose a platform that fits the needs the best.<\/p>\n

Minimum Viable Product<\/a> is one of the methods of building products. It is the fastest way to create a new product with its basic functionalities.<\/p>\n

Ok, you probably know what MVP<\/a> is, but why is Ruby one of the best choices? Because of its most popular framework, Ruby on Rails<\/a>, obviously! Do you want to know more?<\/p>\n

Conversion over Configuration<\/strong> is often mentioned as an advantage of Rails<\/a>. It means that the necessary configuration process is minimized and you can run your basic application very quickly.<\/p>\n

If you have planned your application core properly, using the Rails generators<\/strong> can significantly speed up your development.<\/p>\n

Also, thanks to a big community, there are plenty of plugins, also known as gems<\/strong>, that cover the most frequently needed functionalities.<\/p>\n

Fintech<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Financial technology (Fintech<\/a>) is growing rapidly nowadays. As it turns out, Ruby and its framework, Ruby on Rails, is a good option also if you need to create a Fintech application.<\/p>\n

As you probably know, Fintech applications need to be well-protected. Ruby on Rails provides mechanisms that focus on security. One of most frequent attacks on web<\/a> applications are CSRF, XSS and SQL Injections. RoR<\/a> has its own built-in protection methods against them.<\/p>\n

Of course, other advantages of Ruby on Rails, like time- and cost-saving that I mentioned before, are also applicable in the financial sector, especially if you\u2019re running a start-up.<\/p>\n

ERP<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Enterprise<\/a> Resource Planning (ERP) software is designed to be the system for operating and managing a business. This software can be complex and needs a strong relational database.<\/p>\n

And again… here comes Ruby on Rails which, in addition to its other advantages mentioned before, has built-in tools to work with various databases. So, no matter if you prefer MySQL<\/a> or PostgreSQL, you can pair this up with an RoR application.<\/p>\n
